Christmas 2007

Jennifer Smith is a happy person. She is loved, She does many fun things and She has lots of friends. Some of the friends that She likes to play with are Julie, Jessica and Jimmy.

Jenny also has a very best friend that She takes nearly everywhere with her. Who is this really special friend? It is Anne Marie who lives Plymouth, Michigan with Jenny. Anne Marie is a Cabbage Patch Kid© who was adopted by Jenny.

Jenny and Anne Marie are always laughing and playing. They share the kinds of secrets that only BEST friends can. Jenny is happiest when She is with Anne Marie and when her friends come over with their 'Kids'.

4

As best friends, Jenny and Anne Marie do almost everything together. They eat, sleep, play and especially like to read books. Like all Cabbage Patch Kids, Anne Marie loves to learn.

Sometimes they take their favorite books to the park and have picnics, run around all day long or read quietly. While they are in the park, they often see many other 'Kids. At other times, Jenny and Anne Marie will sit in their bedroom and draw and color pictures, write plays, make up stories or read.

On many days, Jenny and Anne Marie play with Julie, Jessica and Jimmy; but sometimes they just like to play alone. One thing is certain, they always have a good time, no matter what they are doing or who is with them.

7

Jenny and Anne Marie are delighted when it is time again to decide where they will go for summer vacation. It is fun to help with the plans. When they choose a "southern" vacation, everyone is happy.

It takes time to select the clothes, shoes, games and books to take. Jenny checks with Anne Marie to make sure that She has not forgotten anything. her friends and their 'Kids come over to help. The 'Kids love to pack and repack the suitcase. The conversation goes something like this, "Should we take this? Oh, don't forget to bring this! Hey, what about this?"

On the first day of vacation, Jenny is both happy and sad to be leaving Plymouth, Michigan. She is happy because she will see new places with Anne Marie, but sad because She will miss Julie, Jessica and Jimmy.

8

As they travel along, Jenny and Anne Marie bring out their books and games. They really enjoy it when everyone sings together.

They are careful to follow safety rules while they are on their trip. "We do not move until seatbelts are on," has been the rule as long as Jenny can remember. She also does not let Anne Marie put her little hands or arms out the windows. From time to time, Jenny holds up Anne Marie so she can see the beautiful scenery.

Once, as Jenny was holding Anne Marie, they saw a sign that showed Babyland General© hospital in Cleveland, Georgia was only 5 miles ahead. Jenny asked if they could stop, and was told, "Certainly, we all want to see where Anne Marie was born."

11

As they enter Babyland General, they find it full of happy faces. There are many children, with their 'Kids and parents. The visitors are greeted by Cabbage Patch© doctors, nurses and BunnyBeesª.

BunnyBees are special creatures that are a cross between a bunny and a bee. They are too little to be bunnies and too big to be bees, but they look and act like both. They fly by flapping their long, soft ears. As they soar over the Cabbage Patch, BunnyBees sprinkle magic crystals on the cabbage plants. These plants then magically sprout Cabbage Patch Kids.

One BunnyBee really likes Jenny and decides to follow her on the hospital tour. Jenny signs the guest book and writes in her address and phone number.

12

When they leave the father's waiting room, they go past the nursery where newborn babies spend their first hours after being delivered in the Cabbage Patch. "The LPN's, our Licensed Patch Nurses, are always checking to see if the babies need a bottle, a blanket, or perhaps a big hug," one of the nurses tells Jenny.

The next room they come to is the Preemie© nursery. Jenny sees many babies in their incubators. "All the babies in this nursery were born early because of an early frost," said an LPN. "Because of this, they get lots of extra TLC."

"What is TLC?" asks Jenny. The nurse explains, "It is what you give Anne Marie all the time - Tender Loving Care."

15

As Jenny follows the BunnyBee, She notices that She is now in a school room. A guide remarks, "All Cabbage Patch Kids love to learn in our Kid Garden while they are waiting to be adopted by just the right family."

In the Kid Garden, Jenny and Anne Marie see happy faces reading, writing and drawing pictures. Anne Marie remembers that her favorite lessons were always about the history of Cabbage Patch. She never got tired of hearing the stories about Xavier Roberts.

Jenny looks around the school room and the rest of the hospital. She sees there are many Cabbage Patch Kids, but no two are exactly alike. Then She realizes that this is also true of people everywhere. Each one of us is special in our own way.

16

Jenny is getting ready to leave the Kid Garden when She hears an announcement. "Cabbage in labor! All staff to the delivery room, STAT!" Jenny is told it is time to deliver another Cabbage Patch baby. The doctors and nurses must get ready!

Jenny and Anne Marie excitedly follow the BunnyBee. Jenny is amazed when She sees the huge Magic Crystal Treeª. It is the most beautiful tree that She has ever seen in her life! Many people are gathered around to watch.

There are crystals growing down from the tree branches and up from the ground among the cabbage plants. Jenny asks, "Why are the crystals glowing?" She is told, "The crystals glow when a new baby is about to be born."

19

Before long there is another announcement. A Cabbage Patch doctor appears ready to help with the delivery of Mother Cabbage and her new baby.

Jenny and everyone else in the group are asked to help the doctor by taking a deep breath. Anne Marie is so excited that Jenny puts her down next to the rail fence that surrounds the Magic Crystal Tree. Here Anne Marie can get a better look.

It is at this very moment that the new baby is born. It's a little girl! Jenny is surprised when the doctor asks her to help name the baby. Jenny thought that all new babies were supposed to cry, but this one does not. The doctor just gives the baby a little pat to get her giggle box working.

20

What a thrill for everyone when one of the visitors in the hospital decides to adopt the new baby. Jenny and the crowd around her move with the new "parent" so they can observe the adoption process.

Jenny watches the new "parent" raise a right hand to take the oath. "I promise with all my heart to give this special Cabbage Patch Kid my love and care and, in every way possible, be the best adoptive parent in the whole world."

It is the same oath that Jenny took when She adopted Anne Marie. Just then She looks around for her best friend. Oh, no! In her excitement about the delivery and then the adoption, Jenny has walked away from Anne Marie!

23

With her BunnyBee flying next to her side, Jenny tries hard not to become too scared. She walks back to the exact spot where She had placed Anne Marie by the Crystal Tree, but can not find her best friend!

As tears well up in her eyes, other Cabbage Patch Kids, doctors and nurses assist in the search. Even the BunnyBees are flying around looking for Anne Marie.

Every room at Babyland Hospital is searched - the waiting room, the nurseries, the school room, the birthing room and the gift shop. Where can Anne Marie be? It is at this time Jenny hears the announcement that it is time for the hospital to close for the day.

24

Sadly, Jenny realizes that She must leave without her best friend. During the search, Jenny has met Colonel Casey©. He is the special doctor stork who delivers the babies to new "parents" at home. It was Colonel Casey who carried Anne Marie to Jenny in Plymouth, Michigan!

Colonel Casey assures Jenny that everyone will continue to look for Anne Marie. "In all the years I have been delivering these 'Kids, I have never lost one yet. I do not intend to start now. Jenny, I promise you that we will find your friend."

Colonel Casey also promises to bring Anne Marie home to Jenny himself. "I will be seeing you again real soon Jenny." Jenny feels a little better as She walks out the door.

27

Jenny is also cheered by the special BunnyBee who has been with her for the tour of Babyland General Hospital. The BunnyBee wants to ride back with Jenny and stay with her until Anne Marie is returned to Plymouth, Michigan.

On the way home, Jenny tells the BunnyBee about all the things that She and Anne Marie do together. Jenny tries hard not to get too upset because She really believes what Colonel Casey has told her.

Jenny talks about Julie, Jessica and Jimmy. She laughs about the funny things they have done together. Jenny tickles the BunnyBee behind his ears which makes him smile. Jenny really does feel better because the BunnyBee is there.

28

Before too long, they are back home in Plymouth, Michigan. Jenny certainly does not have time to be sad as they unpack from the trip. The BunnyBee flies all around Jenny performing loop-de-loops, whirlygigs, twirly-Q's and dodging the doorways as Jenny carries her things to her room.

Almost as soon as they are settled in, there is a knock at the door. As She always does before She opens a door, Jenny asks, "Who is it?" It is Colonel Casey! How can he be here already?

Jenny can't open the door fast enough. A big smile appears on her face as She sees Anne Marie and Colonel Casey. "Where did you find her?" Jenny questions excitedly, as She invites the Colonel into her home.

31

Colonel Casey explained to Jenny that Anne Marie had fallen asleep under some big cabbage patch leaves right where Jenny had placed her by the Magic Crystal Tree. Two very delighted 'Kids found her. Anne Marie was sad when they woke her up and she discovered Jenny was gone.

Anne Marie was ready to go home the minute she opened her eyes. Because it was already dark, Colonel Casey talked her into waiting until the next morning. "I really do need new glasses before I do any more night flying," he said.

Anne Marie had fun visiting with her old friends at Babyland General. However, when the sun came up the next morning, she gently nudged Colonel Casey awake. She could not wait a minute longer to return to Jenny in Plymouth, Michigan. They left immediately!

32

As Colonel Casey finished his story, there was another knock at the front door. Once again, Jenny asked, "Who is it?"

It was Julie, Jessica and Jimmy with a cake. Behind them were many other friends and 'Kids. Jenny laughed as they called out, "Welcome home, Jenny and Anne Marie!" It felt so good to be back home with friends like this.

What a fantastic party there was that day in Plymouth, Michigan! Colonel Casey and the BunnyBee even had time to eat some of the cake before they left for Babyland General Hospital.

As the day ended, Jennifer Smith knew She would never forget the second time Colonel Casey made A VERY SPECIAL DELIVERY of Anne Marie Smith!
